Avril Anderson
Avril Anderson studied at the Royal College of Music with Humphrey Searle and John Lambert, where she won the Cobbett Prize for composition, subsequently studying at the New England Conservatory and with David del Tredici in New York. Her music is regularly performed and broadcast by leading performers in Europe, Australia and the USA.
Avril has directed many education projects for orchestras, ensembles and festivals and was a PRS Composer-in-Education in 1997. From 1990 she has been Composer in Residence for the Young Place. She was appointed to the professorial staff of the University of Notre Dame, London programme in 1997. She is co-artistic director with David Sutton-Anderson of Sounds Positive and was been a panel reader for the SPNM from 1998 -2008 . Avril has been a staff member of the RCM Junior Department since 2001. Her music is published by OUP, Bardic, Andresier Edition and ABRSM. Recordings of her works are on NMC, Serendipity, Meridian and Classicprint labels.
