Benjamin Lang
Benjamin Lang studied composition (with Adriana Hölszky, Johannes Schöllhorn and Michael Edwards), music theory (with Peter M. Wolf, Hubert Moßburger, Andreas Gürsching and Florian Edler, among others) and conducting (with Giorgio Bernasconi among others) in Rostock, Salzburg, Hanover, Lugano, Bremen and Edinburgh. After teaching positions in music theory and composition at the music academies in Hanover, Bremen, Rostock as well as at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and the University of Lüneburg, he became a research assistant for composition, composition pedagogy and music theory at the Institute for Music at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences in 2008.
From 2010 to 2017 he taught music theory and composition at the Zurich University of the Arts, since 2014 as a professor. In 2016 he was appointed professor for historical and contemporary music composition at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin and in the 2018/19 winter semester he took up a professorship at the Rostock University of Music and Theater. His compositions have been performed in Europe and the USA (ur). He has been a guest composer and lecturer at Arizona State University, the Iceland Academy of the Arts, the University of Edinburgh and the Royal Academy in Aarhus.
