Mathis Saunier

Mathis Saunier, born in Annemasse (France), has been studying electric guitar since 2004, classical guitar with Matteo Mela, and composition with Arturo Corrales at the Geneva Conservatory. He is a founding member, guitarist, and composer of the industrial band Mauvais Sang, signed under the December Square label. In 2022, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in composition at the Guildhall School Music & Drama in London where he studied with Matthew Kaner and Hollie Harding. He collaborates with ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Ligeti Quartet, Ensemble Exaudi, the Nouvel Ensemble de Neuchâtel (NEC), and the United Strings of Europe. Passionate about cinema, his musical universe is a fusion of electronic music (with techno, ambient, and industrial influences) acoustics, and visual art, to which he attaches great importance. His music is performed in Europe in venues such as Festival Antigel (Geneva), Musica Festival (Strasbourg), Barbican (London), Snape Maltings. Besides those projects, Mathis developed a conceptual instrument based on a guitar setup to obtain the sound of the Ondes Martenot. He collaborated with composers such as Anna Meredith, Laurence Crane, and Paul Newland on his Ondes Martenot arrangements album.
