Stephen Pratt
Stephen Pratt studied with Hugh Wood for five years from 1971-75, as a postgraduate and later privately.
Since composing Some of their Number for the RLPO and Simon Rattle in 1980, he has enjoyed strong links with the orchestra, including his large two-part choral work for the RLPO and RLPC with I Fagiolini, Uneasy Vespers (1991 and 2008), a violin concerto which was premiered by Anthony Marwood in 2003, and the song cycle Lovebytes, shortlisted for a British Composers Award by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters in 2004 and subsequently recorded by Claire Booth. The work is the title track of a CD which also includes his Violin Concerto and Double Act (2006). Since 2001 his work has been published by edition hh.
