Alistair Stout
Alastair Stout is an award-winning composer and organist. His music spans almost every genre, from solo instrumental music to works for large symphony orchestra. In 2001 he completed an 80-minute chamber opera based on the final flight of the Russian Astronaut, Vladimir Komarov.
Alastair had his first solo organ work published at the age of 15, and has had his music performed by ensembles and soloists throughout Europe, Oceania, North America and Mexico. His music has been broadcast on BBC radio, and is available on CD and iTunes. His choral music is published by Paraclete Press.
Alastair studied organ under Dr. John Birch at the Temple Church in London, UK. He has given recitals throughout the UK, USA and Mexico, and recorded for the BBC. In 2002 he moved to the USA to become Director of Music at the Coraopolis UMC and later, Director of the Pittsburgh Compline Choir. In 2017 he was appointed Minister of Music at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ in Rutland, Vermont.
Alastair graduated from the Royal College of Music with First Class Honors in 1997. He continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at Royal Holloway, University of London, UK. He spent his early years on the Shetland Islands, UK, and now lives in the USA.
