We are delighted to announce the Jerwood Foundation has awarded NMC Recordings with a grant of £25,000 to support a new digital only series that will focus on talented composers. Four composers, Bushra El-Turk, Ben Nobuto, Yshani Perinpanayagam and Alex Ho will be given tailored support to release digital EPs as Jerwood Series.

The works released will raise the profile of these composers, catalysing new commissions, new collaborations, new residencies, academic appointments, further performances and crucially, will introduce them to new audiences, both in the UK and internationally.

Each composer will release a Digital EP including new professional recordings of existing works for small ensemble. The recordings will be accompanied by a professional music video, scrolling score video and be released via all download providers. The composers will also receive bespoke mentoring and support tailored to the individual composer and benefit from NMC’s specialist PR contacts, industry and fundraising experience, and new music audiences.

The first two releases in 2025 will be from Ben Nobuto and Bushra El-Turk and will continue from 2026 with composers including Alex Ho and Yshani Perinpanayagam.

Cathy Graham OBE, Executive Director of NMC Recordings says:

“We are proud and delighted that Jerwood Foundation will be supporting our new Extended Play series. This digital only initiative, with accompanying film and scrolling score, marks a new direction for NMC.  We are confident it will increase the exposure of emerging composers, broaden audiences, and provide vital resources for musicians and programmers who make crucial decisions about the live performance of new repertoire.  We are enormously excited, and thrilled that the Jerwood Foundation is enabling us to engage on this journey.”
